Abstract
This short paper investigates sufficient conditions for the well-posedness for the discrete version of a regularized fictitious domain method using conforming finite element methods. We show that if both the regularization parameter and the bulk mesh size are proportional to the mesh size of the physical dmain, the discrete inf-sup condition holds, where the constant appearing the estimate is independent of all discretization parameters.
