Abstract
The paper will discuss the role of functional planning as part of preliminary design of farm buildings and the use of knowledge-based tools in functional planning. The paper will focus especially on the functional or process planning of farm production buildings. Expert systems developed in the study is presented. These expert systems are meant for some subtasks of the functional planning of cattle buildings.
