Abstract
A knowledge based expert system for detailed design of prefabricated elements is described. The system accepts, as an input, a preliminary architectural design of the building to be constructed, indicates the location of structural supports, breaks down the floors and walls into elements to be prefabricated, and finally produces detailed drawings and cost estimate of Slab elements, with due regard to their precasting method. The operation of the system and the structure of its knowledge base are described.
