Abstract
Micro ABCONS is an integrated suit of programs for reinforced concrete structures. The output includes the analysis, design, full fixing instructions and bar bending schedules for each element in accordance with the British Standard Code of Practice for Reinforced Concrete.

The paper describes the early development of the system on mainframe computers and its transfer to a micro computer. It describes the philosophy behind the input and output concept and details the various data and error checking routines that have been incorporated within the system.

The micro system is designed to be independent of any particular hardware configuration or software operating system.
