Abstract
The development of tables for designing steel girder-timber deck bridges of the type used by the Australian Army is discussed. The structural type is such that harmonic analysis is suitable for accurately determining load distribution. A stiffness formulation of harmonic analysis is presented, which is more suitable for computer analysis than the original method and which can be formulated in a manner which leads to rapid convergence. The basic logic of the computer program used in the development of the tables is described, and example tables are presented.
