Abstract

A novel punching shear reinforcing system for flat RC slabs, called the Shearband, has been recently developed at the Centre for Cement and Concrete. The Shearband is very easy to install, extremely efficient and leads to a more economic solution than conventional methods of reinforcing. Test results from eight slabs tested as part of the development and verification programme, are presented and discussed in this paper.
