Abstract
A brief description of the state-of-the-art in some areas of finite element analysis is presented. We consider the analysis of (almost or fully) incompressible solids, plate and shell structures, contact problems, fully coupled fluid flow/structure interaction problems and error estimation. Finally, some developments towards an effective meshless solution technique are given.
