Abstract
This paper presents an expert system for preliminary design of spatial gridwork structures based on the neural networks, which consists of the prediction subsystem, evaluation subsystem, and the control subsystem. This system may select a feasible scheme from possible schemes. Coordinate structural engineers with the engineers worked in other fields, and treat different ideas among designers with the neural nets. In present system, B-P algorithm is modified to speed up the convergence in training procedure. Finally, some practical examples are introduced. The results obtained by the present system are satisfied.
