Summary
The paper is concerned with the seismic analysis of Austria's largest stadium roof. The basic idea of statics lies in the space geometry of the roof. The steel truss structure connects the inner elliptical tensioned ring with an outer supported ring. The shape of the roof was designed according to minimum potential energy theory. The seismic bearing capacity of the structure was originally proved on the basis of Eurocode 8. This paper presents the time history analysis using earthquake records from a strong motion database. Results in the time domain show the behaviour of the structure during earthquake.
