Abstract
Computers have made a tremendous impact in the field of Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering. A large number of general purpose analysis packages are available now in the market. Thus while the analysis of structures on computers have reached a relatively advanced stage, the emphasis is now slowly shifting towards (a) the design of structural systems and components and (b) synthesis of the design and production information. Further, the online computing facilities and interactive peripherals like graphic terminals, digitizers, etc., have made the design process more interesting and innovative. This paper deals with the postprocessing capabilities available now which could be used to translate several yards of printer output in a compact graphical form. Some of the trends and techniques adopted for displaying the design details and other relevant information with specific reference to reinforced concrete structural components are presented.
