Abstract
Three kinds of form finding problems of membrane structures are discussed in this paper. The first kind is to find the minimum surface with the identical stress distribution, the second kind is to find the equilibrium surface that satisfies the given boundaries, and the third is finding the uniform stress surface that can equilibrate under given surface geometry. The dynamic relaxation method is adopted to solve the first and the second problems and the least square method is used in solving the third problem. Numerical studies show that the method proposed in this paper can solve successfully form-finding problems of membrane structures.
