Abstract
The problem of control against noise-induced escape covers a wide range of application. In this paper we consider mechanical systems. in which escape from a safe region is associated with escape from a potential well. In these systems, the control goal is targeted at keeping the system inside the well and away from the potential barrier. The paper discusses the effect of small random perturbations on escape phenomena in a bistable system and studies optimal control feasibility for such systems.
