Abstract
Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN) applications to the analysis of structural and civil engineering problems have been developed at the Cracow University of Technology and TU Rzeszów, Poland. The following problems are shortly discussed: I) hybrid neural-network/finite-element program for the elastoplastic plane stress analysis, 2) prediction of buckling loads for cylindrical shells with manufacturing imperfections, 3) identification of characteristics for semi-rigid steel connections, 4) identification of fracture parameters for dense concretes, 5) prestressing parameters in segmental tendons in cylindrical tanks, 6) detection of damage in simple beams, 7) detection of damage in a multistorey frame, 8) evaluation of response spectra for traffic vibrations.
