Abstract
This paper focuses on the study of the elastic couplings and the warping effects on the behaviour of composite beams. The study is restricted to the case of thin walled multilayered composite beams and the modifications to be introduced in the case of thick or moderately thick beams are noticed in the end. The semi-analytical model presented herein allows the analysis of different kinds of elastic couplings, among which extension, shear, bending, torsion and prevented warping. The numerical results which are presented and compared to experimental tests, 3D computations and other analytical models, show the efficiency of our approach and the improvements which are carried out.
