Abstract
Considering nonlinear material models the structural behaviour of RC plates and shells can be analysed in a realistic manner to check the ultimate limit states and the limit states of serviceability. Therefore you need realistic numerical models for reinforced concrete in the same way as design strategies based on nonlinear analysis. Such material models and nonlinear design strategies can be applicated for the practical use. So you get a design which fulfils the requirements of durability, safety and economic aspects advantageously.
