Abstract
This paper presents a simple and effective methodology which uses both regular and practical finite element meshes to evaluate a number of characteristics of mesh partitioning algorithms. A critical assessment of various partitioning algorithms have been performed using this methodology. Results of some selected mesh partitioning algorithms are reported here to demonstrate the usefulness and effectiveness of the present methodology. In addition, an interactive graphics program used in this work to facilitate the evaluation studies is presented.
