Abstract
The Lateral Distribution Method of computing flow profiles in open channels is used to provide stage-discharge curves and conveyances for a reach of a two stage channel on the River Main in Northern Ireland. Comparisons are made between computed and measured flow profiles, stage-discharge curves and floodplain depth hydrographs. The Lateral Distribution Method is shown to be more accurate than the Divided Channel Method for estimating conveyances for this site with a compact compound channel.
