Abstract
This paper describes the rearfoot finite element modeling of polyurethane foam used in sport shoes. Two cases are considered: a flat bottom and an arched bottom reinforced with a shell of PBT resin (hytrel). The results of testing samples of polyurethane foam to obtain Poisson's ratio and modulus of elasticity are presented. The finite element analysis program ANSYS is used to perform linear elastic and nonlinear hyperelastic analysis of the model under the loading condition of a subject walking and running. The analysis results indicate the appropriateness of nonlinear analysis for models using polyurethane foam.
