Abstract
In this work, the computational performance of some algorithms for solving variational inequalities is compared by means of numerical experiments. The model problems used to test the behaviour of the algorithms considered were the obstacle problem for a membrane and the contact problem in infinitesimal elasticity. Both problems involved different load conditions and parameters. The finite element method was used for the spatial discretization process.
