Abstract
Optimization is one of the most intensively investigated research area in engineering and needs very complex knowledge in the mathematics, physics and informatics. Topology optimization has been the most popular subfield of it recently. It has more than 150 years of history. The starting date can be connected to the Maxwell's paper published in 1870. This presentation is an overview of subjectively selected state-of-art achievements during the full history what is more than 150 years. The selection of the achievements of this field is a rather difficult task because in the early period of the history of topology optimization lot of meetings were classified and the results were not available for public. The optimization community has almost no knowledge about the publications in topology optimization in the 50s of the past century. This presentation also gives an overview of the recent achievements with industrial applications as, well. These applications are based on our recent researches.
