Abstract
This paper is concerned with the presentation of a soil-structure interaction procedure and its application to structural analysis and design. A procedure of modelling the interaction of soil and structure is outlined and validated. Summaries are given of five structural design examples for which the procedure has been applied to analyse and design complex raft foundations. For one of the cases studied the predictions are compared with precise levelling records of short term actual settlement taken during various stages of construction.
