Abstract
The microcomputer program CCANDE-87 (Concrete Culvert ANalysis and DEsign) is a microcomputer revised version of the CANDE-80 program. The program performs the analysis and design of reinforced concrete culverts or other buried structures. The reinforced concrete is modeled using a beam-column element, where the stress-strain relation of concrete is assumed to be trilinear in compression and the reinforcing steel is assumed to be elasto-plastic. The soil is descretized using quadrilateral or triangular elements. The soil behaviour can be modeled as linear elastic or nonlinear. Soil-structure interface element is used to allow for frictional slidding, separation and rebonding between the structure and the soil. A pre-processor program is provided to allow for the input data to be specified in a symbolic free formatted form. An extensive mesh generation options are added for linear, quadratic, lagrangian or frontal joint coordinate generation. The program is provided also with an automatic renumbering scheme to minimize the bandwidth of the stiffness matrix. The execution time is reduced for linear and nonlinear problems. Some soil-structure interaction applications are presented to demonstrate the accuracy, the versatility, and the relative speed of CCANDE-87.
