Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present main ideas we propose, and which are being implemented in a research oriented finite element software NESSY, to facilitate development and capitalisation of software pieces, including parallel capabilities. This is intended in the moving context of a university research Lab, where programming is done by Ph.D students whose main skills are in non-linear mechanics, modelling and simulation. Modularity and parallel processing are organised around a recursive and topological approach of physical domains mainly based on macro-elements and their boundaries. The ability to deal with a recursive data organisation has been designed and implemented inside a kernel called GesDyn to allow efficient analysis, programming and debugging.
