Abstract
In recent years in Armenia along with the construction of new buildings, attention has been paid to seismic protection of existing buildings. Revolutionary transformations using seismic isolation were pertinent just to that field. Seismic isolation might play a critical role in Armenia as in contrast to conventional approaches it does not require interruption of functioning of already occupied buildings. At the same time the introduction of seismic isolation into the practice of new construction has started as well. The present paper is devoted to the description of the structural concepts, which can provide significant seismic safety for existing and newly constructed buildings.
