Abstract
In this paper a comparative study of different algorithms are employed for nodal and element ordering of finite clement models. The matrix force method of structures are presented for in-plane force systems of 3-node triangular and 4-node rectangular plane stress elements. Ordering algorithms for rectangular matrices are incorporated in Turn back approach and the bandwidth and sparsity of self stress and flexibility matrices are compared through many examples. This comparison is made for plane stress finite element models having various configurations.
