Abstract
A method is presented for the non-linear force method of frame analysis. A combinatorial approach is employed for the formation of particular and complementary solutions, leading to highly localized self-equilibrating stress systems. The method of analysis is based on an Eulerian formulation, which takes into account the effect of large joint translations and rotations. Material non-linearity is also included using a Ramberg-Osgood polynomial to represent generalized load-displacement relationships. An efficient program is developed and a number of frames are analyzed. The results indicate that the presented method is highly accurate in predicting large deformation responses of frames.
