Abstract
The dynamic and static analysis of existing structures is essential to obtain reliable information related to real life structural properties. For this purpose a series of material tests, dynamic tests and static collapse tests of existing brick chimneys was carried out. The brick chimneys’ dynamic parameters were identified by autoregressive moving average vectors (ARMAV) and eigensystem realization algorithm (ERA) techniques. On the basis of the experimental tests, numerical models were prepared and in accordance with the European code, non-linear static (pushover) analysis of the chimneys was carried out to evaluate their seismic performance.
