Abstract
The introduction of powerful multi-processor computers and the widespread availability of workstation networks has produced a requirement for flexible parallel and distributed mesh generation algorithms. A distributed mesh generator is essential if efficient use is to be made of computational facilities of this type in the solution of large scale problems. This paper describes how the distributed generation of partitioned unstructured meshes can be accomplished for both two and three dimensional problems using a Delaunay procedure. It will be shown that extremely large meshes can be and are generated on computers with medium sized architectures.
