Abstract
A semi-analysis and semi-numerical approach for calculating the dynamic flexible matrix of soil layer to laterally loaded pile is presented. In this approach, the pile is considered as a circular beam and the foundation is assumed to be a hysteretic soil layer. The complex flexible matrix for modeling of the foundation soil can be obtained by a nonsingular boundary integral method through a set of complete functions. This flexible matrix can be coupled with the finite element equation of pile to obtain the dynamic response of soil and pile system. The analysis procedure of proposed method, compared with some alternative numerical methods, (such as finite element method), will greatly reduce the computational effort.
