Summary
In this paper the development and design of a monitoring system of a freight intermodal wagon is presented. The research activity is carried out in the framework of a national research project ITS2020. The monitored parameters, in addition to the position detected by a GPS module, are the pressures of the pneumatic circuit of the braking system, the temperature of the brake hanger and blocks and the acceleration recorded from the wagon during travel. The device developed is battery powered due the lack of electrification on the wagon. The data, collected with high frequency, are stored in a memory and then processed off-line. The main goal of the proposed first installation is to populate a database for the development of a diagnostic algorithm for the embedded remote monitoring system.
