Abstract
In this paper, we propose a knowledge based support system for finite element computer packages. This system is divided largely into two parts. One is the analysis guide system for selecting an appropriate program by means of expert system. The other is the support system for making geometric model, and for setting up material properties. As to explain the developed system, we give an application, which is the compaction settlement analysis of embankment.
