Summary
In this paper, after recalling the activities which are currently being carried out at the Second University of Naples, which aim to investigate the response of riveted joints and the influence on their behaviour of the residual stress state induced in the course of the manufacturing process. The paper reporst on the particular problem of the bearing resistance of such a riveted joint, which has been investigated both experimentally and numerically also taking into account the said residual stresses and the results obtained are compared. This makes it possible to conveniently calibrate the adopted numerical procedures.
