Summary
This paper presents a new wheel-rail contact model to study the influence of the first three bending modes of wheelset on the wheel-rail contact behavior. This contact model is able to determine the wheel-rail contact points more realistically. The dynamic responses of the wheel-rail contact presented in the paper are in the excitation of harmonic corrugations and white noise roughness on the rails at the speeds from 200km/h to 400km/h. The results of the simulation of the vehicle models, respectively, with rigid wheelsets and flexible wheelsets, are compared. It indicates that the new contact model is suitable to the wheel-rail contact interaction between a flexible wheelset and a flexible track.
