Abstract
Laboratory model test results for the ultimate bearing capacity of a strip foundation located at the edge of a clay slope under undrained condition (phi = 0) have been presented. For all tests reported, the depth of the foundation has been kept at zero (surface foundation condition). The ultimate bearing capacity variation with the slope angle determined from laboratory tests has been compared with existing theories. The variation of the foundation settlement at ultimate load with change of the slope angle has also been presented.
