Abstract
The first part of this study deals with the determination of dynamic characteristics of a cable-stayed bridge with fan configuration and A-type towers. Two dimensional and three dimensional analyses have been carried out to calculate the natural frequencies and mode shapes. Also, in this part, the possible ways of modelling the structure are discussed. The second part is devoted to the dynamic response calculation, the merits of the employed methods being discussed. Four different methods are utilised: these are asynchronous excitation, time-history, complete quadratic combination and response spectrum analysis. The results from these methods are presented and compared.
