Abstract
The Tsim Sha Tsui Cultural Centre roof is an inverted concrete lattice shell formed by casting concrete around a hanging cable net. This rigidised cable net supports a framework of secondary steelwork which provides the support for the external cladding.

The paper describes the principal stages in the planning and construction of the roof. It starts by considering the influence of the construction method on this design and how the designers reflected their intentions in the tender documents. This is followed by a summary of the construction method adopted on site with emphasis on the special procedures which were adopted.
