Abstract
The micro computer offers many advantages over purpose-built data loggers for data collection in the laboratory and the field; it also provides a means of data analysis during and after data collection work. Three different applications of a micro computer system are described: one relating to geotechnical model studies on a centrifuge, another to structural model testing in the wind tunnel, and the third to the study of long term energy usage and environment of buildings. The micro computer system used in all of these applications is discussed in relation to the general requirements of such a system in the field of building engineering.
