Abstract
The development of a general 3D cable element capable of handling non-uniform loading has been described earlier. In this paper the development of the extension of this element to cope with material non-linearity is discussed. Three methods of evaluating equivalent nodal forces are derived and their performance is compared with. A method of evaluating the tangent stiffness matrix for such elements is subsequently outlined.
