Abstract
A formulation to compute the Hasofer-Lind reliability index is proposed to analyse reinforced concrete structures, taking into account physical and geometrical non-linearities. The concrete is defined in the context of softening materials. Including tension stiffness effects completes the reinforced concrete structural element. The statistical model is based on adaptive failure surfaces governed by the mechanical model responses. The failure surface is obtained by approximating the load factor distribution, which are computed to reach either the Ultimate Limit State or a specified Serviceability Limit State. The Rackwitz&Fiessler algorithm estimates the reliability index of the structure. A parametric analysis of reinforced concrete columns is presented.
