Abstract
We present a contribution to the "reverse engineering" process through a method for the extraction of characteristic edges from a digitized surface. This extraction is realized step by step by fitting locally a surface, which presents a discontinuity. This approach enables to split the initial domain along the edges and rebuild the sub-domains by means of an implicit or a parametric representation. To avoid long process, this fitting is started on the vicinity of selected points, for which a paraboloid fitting gives weak curvature radiuses.
