Abstract
A new approach, called "Variational Theory of Complex
Rays", is applied to the calculation of slightly-damped, elastic
structural vibrations of plates in the medium-frequency range.
For each frequency of the studied frequency range, a small system
of linear equations leads to the effective quantities (kinetic
energy, vibrational intensity); in no way does this procedure require
a detailed finite element discretization of the structure.
