Abstract
Real structures are often composed of volumetric, shell type and transitionnal members. It becomed quite inefficient to model transitionnal zones by volumetric or shell elements. In this paper, we develop a family of elements which could represent volumetric, transition and thick/thin zones without any shear, membrane or plane stress locking. Various numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the relative efficiency of these new elements.
