Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate the response of planar coupled shear walls before and after the repair of the beams at the elasto-plastic wall joints using the discrete force method. The methhod is based on the force approach, using as redundants the shear forces not only at the contraflexural points of the connecting beams but also at the wall junction. The elasto-plastic condition is restricted to the connecting beams using a convenient perfectly elastic/perfectly plastic material model. The work presents the results obtained with the discrete force method and discusses their applicability to some representative problems.
