Abstract
The concept of virtual prototyping evolved out of a desire to eliminate physical prototyping. The term has now been extended to include all activities related to the computational tasks involved during the design phase of a product. This paper describes a software architecture that has been developed in order to integrate the design and simulation of a product in a concurrent engineering environment. The paper specifically addresses issues such as accurate interference detection and the generation of analysis models for simulation purposes.
