Abstract

The paper presents the shapes of heads of cylindrical pressure vessels. Discussed heads do not disturb the membrane state of stress in the vessel. Two head shapes are determined - one of them with regard to achieving possibly uniform strength and the other with regard to minimal value of head to medium mass ratio. Results of the analysis are presented graphically.
