Abstract
This report considers further analysis methods for buildings. which are generally measured out linear-elastically according to seismic codes. but have to sustain large inelastic deformations if a severe earthquake occurs. These methods intend to be a first step in the non linear analysis of structures under earthquake loading. Some consideration of the probable inelastic damage the already designed structure could suffer in a severe earthquake is of vital importance for assessing its safety.
