Abstract
Preassembly of structural systems offers many advantages over standard methods, including improved worker safety, and reduced erection duration and costs. However, current activities in prefabrication and preassembly rely upon standard methods and components, which may prevent the actualization of the large potential benefits. We developed three structural systems explicitly for preassembly, with specific members and erection procedures, and analyzed the duration, costs, and worker safety. All three systems appear to offer cost and duration benefits, and significantly improve the workers' safety. This research indicates the promise offered by new concepts for preassembled structural systems.
