Abstract
A partial implementation of the MPI specification has been developed for a special distributed memory MIMD parallel computer, the Transtech Parastation, in the form of a low-level C library. The underlying routing scheme is briefly discussed. System requirements are only a 3L Parallel C compiler. The comparison with respect to a more secure and more portable implementation of application programs is shown. Through an example program which is a parallel non-linear dynamic finite element analysis code, transition notes are given to develop programs from existing 3L Parallel C and native transputer applications into equivalent programs complying to the MPI specification.
