Abstract
Many discrete plate bending finite element based on Reissner-Mindlin theory have been developed in the past few years. In these elements the stiffness matrix is evaluated without integrating the shape functions for deflections (or their derivatives). In this paper the concept of consistent load vector and mass matrix for discrete elements is discussed, and the formulation of some triangular plate bending elements is reviewed.
