Abstract
Many previous publications have dealt with the numerical analysis and design of precast concrete pavement units sometimes called raft units. A series of papers has also dealt with the laboratory testing of those units. In two particular papers, the results of laboratory experiments were compared with analytical results and a series of conclusions drawn. This paper further extends the comparison of the results. The results showed that the directions the load travelled over the raft unit effects raft unit life, that the design method can accurately predict raft unit life for fracture fatigue failure but very much underestimates raft unit life for punching shear failure.
